Three die in Crash


Three Pronounced Deceased

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - As a result of a multi-vehicle collision on March 2, 2022, three people have been pronounced deceased. All three were killed when the work van they were travelling in collided with a semi-tractor trailer. The lone occupant of the semi was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

On March 2, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious collision on Wellington Road 109 near Sideroad 12, west of the village of Arthur. Initial reports indicated that a passenger vehicle and a commercial motor vehicle had collided and that there were serious injuries.

OPP, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and Mapleton Fire/Rescue responded to the collision that involved a work van and a semi-tractor trailer. Two occupants were pronounced dead at scene and two were rushed to a local hospital. Shortly thereafter, one of the transported patients succumbed to their injuries and died at hospital.

The road between Arthur and Teviotdale was closed through the night for OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team investigators. The roadway has been reopened.
