Drugs, gun and cash seized

A loaded handgun and large amounts of controlled substances and cash were seized during an investigation Wednesday.

Earlier this summer, members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft (BEAT) Unit began an investigation into a Guelph male. The male was arrested Wednesday as he left his residence in the area of Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road.

Searches of the male’s vehicle and residence revealed approximately $20,000 worth of suspected fentanyl, $10,000 in suspected cocaine, a loaded 9-mm Ruger semi-automatic handgun with nearly 500 rounds of ammunition, a machete and approximately $20,000 in cash.

A 36-year-old Guelph male faces charges including two counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking and several weapons charges. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.

Good Work Team BEAT
